I've been researching video cards the past couple of days getting ready to upgrade from my ATI X300 to a GeForce of some flavor.
My budget is $100 (or less) and from everything I've read, I've pretty much narrowed my selections down to 2 cards.
XFX 7600GS (total cost $56 after rebates) eVGA 7600GTS (total cost $106 out the door)
Now... each has advantages and disadvantages... so I'm really wanting input from anybody who has experience with either of these cards to help with my decision.
The GTS is faster, without question... but is twice the price. Also, I can buy this card locally... so there is the whole instant gratification thing to consider. The GS is a significant upgrade from my X300 and will do nicely enough in SL... but waiting 1 week for delivery and then another 6-8 weeks for a rebate check to show up in my mailbox to arrive.. grrrr!
Anyway... I know which way I'm leaning... but would like feedback from those who have used these cards in SL as to their actual performance. I dont play any other games... so thats not a concern.
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond!

Either works, I think you have already thought this through enough to where you don't need anyones help. There really is no wrong decision, just how much time you want to put into it.

Just to follow up...
I went with the GS (cheaper). Considering SL is the only reason I'm upgrading the card I couldnt see any justification in spending twice the cash for roughly 25% extra performance (in raw benchmark numbers).
I think the 7600GS will give my video performance a nice little boost.. but will let everybody know next weekend.. since it's scheduled to be delivered friday.
side note.... placed the order at 1am EST with buy.com and it's already been shipped. Tracking number and delivery estimate are already posted... I'm VERY pleased.

As a side note, make sure you uninstall your old ATI drivers before putting in this new card, you may want to run a driver cleaner program just to make sure nothing gets left behind after the uninstall too.
