Sorry if I come off sounding like a newb (Well, I am, as far as most technical issues are concerned), but I can run 2L just fine on my upstairs computer, but when I try to run it on this one, which is about the same, hardware-wise, it gets as far as "Preparing inventory" and then it just sits. Sometimes it allows me to hit quit, to exit, more often, it freezes up and I have to use Taskmanager to exit.
I am using Windows XP, 1.6 gh pentium 4, 512 megs of ram, ti4200 and I'm pretty sure everything is up to date, driverwise...I've been playing a different game recently and I updated all my drivers for that.
I tried re-downloading the last update, I also tried uninstalling the whole game and running a fresh copy.
Could this be a setting? Anyone have any ideas to try?

i'm having similar problems but i think my issue is with my router. At my house i can connect to SL from behind my router. At my parent's house (same brand name router, different model) i cannot get past the common Inventory stage. "Sometimes is lets me quite... sometimes... crashes" is exactly right.
anyone have an idea what's going on?

Router Brand?

Lefty,
Second Life uses large UDP packets that apparently cause some Routers to have problems. Always make sure to check for a new version of the Router firmware - and update if necessary.
I just recently went through a lot of trouble with my router. What brand is yours?
Take care,
