The system is making me upload the same file everytime I try to login to SL. The new version is already on my computer, and I tried logging on twice, and it makes me download the version everytime I try to login.

The grid is currently DOWN for upgrade, last SIMs were shut down about 10 minures ago, shutdown commenced about an hour ago.
Come back in about 5 hours (according to the published ETA). _____________________

This always happens when you try to log in before the new client's been placed in the download slot.
Two things:

Well at least the warning did appear, briefly, on the MOTD... Though signing up for eMail notification seems about as effective as eMailing support.
Still, for once I got my affairs in order in advance and made sure I was already in the location I want to be in post-upgrade before being booted. Hopefully things will be relatively easy - though I'm in the middle of a lot of building and no doubt the asset server will be it's usual helpful self. _____________________

Two things:
I'll agree on this. So that's why I download the thing and keep a copy on the harddrive. Never know when I have to do a reinstall, and it's better than waiting for another download. Although the remembering to do it after every update can be a pain... _____________________

Same thing with me. I thought it was a new version then I was asked to download again. After the third time, I just clicked NO and left. The system is making me upload the same file everytime I try to login to SL. The new version is already on my computer, and I tried logging on twice, and it makes me download the version everytime I try to login. |

We are also hoping that the patch we are deploying tommorow will help - by reducing the overall load on our asset system, which is causing the teleport slowdown. Uh huh. You see, I wouldn't mind this so much if this were a beta product, or even incarnations 1.0 through 1.3. However, we're at 1.6.8 and for TP to still not function as advertised even 50% of the time is unnacceptable. We've heard all the work arounds, with the relogging and detaching, and relogging AGAIN, repeat ad nuaseum. However, even if these workarounds even resulted in a successful TP, the fact of the matter is we shouldn't have to perform all these stupid tasks to get from A to B. This, coupled with the numerous updates that have not adressed, and may have even excaserbated, the TP problems makes me, and I would imagine many others, question why they should continue paying for a product that is in effect, broken. |

Amen!! Totally agree with you!! We are not talking about a "slowdown" of the TP; we are talking about a primary piece of functionality that continues to be broken, far into the lifecycle of the product. It's not that is takes me a while to get to my destination; I never get there, because the TP fails. This is not acceptable, considering how much some people (myself included) are paying per month. The other issue is the frequency of updates and amount of downtime versus the gain for those updates. Each update requires the system to be down for several hours, then one must download a new copy of the client, then the asset management system gets hosed dealing with all the cache issues from the new client installs, which then slows the system, makes it unstable, affects the TP, and often prevents users from being able to log in. We get to experience this many times on a weekly basis, and for what? What substantial benefit are we getting from these "upgrades"? I don't see new functionality, and the main problems continue to remain, with the the added effect of system instability. So, what value are we getting for these regular updates, and is it really worth the price? I'd me much more happy if the development team would go off for a month and really get to the root problems of the system, and take another month to fix and test them, and then do an upgrade. Make the updates worth the cost of the impact, please. |

Really, i dont know why im even staying on SL, only thing that keeps me here is the friends i have made WHEN EVERYTHING WORKED RELATIVELY FINE. Im really guessing that someone on the development team came from ATI driver update team. No stability, worthless, glitchy, only fixes minor problem fixes. If they are going to fix crap that is so minor and not worth a month of fix and testing. Might as well send us a blank .txt file and tell us to put it in the recycle bin, then say the problem is fixed. |
