No textures?

After texture corruption issues trying to play SL on my desktop (BFG GeForce 6800 OC 128MB) I've tried to play on my laptop. My own person's textures are no longer corrupt, however... there are no textures on any objects in the world beyond my own person (even objects attached to my avatar). My laptop has a Radeon 9000 IGP 128MB, 3GHz processor, and 512MB RAM. It runs smooth enough, as far as I can tell, and I've messed with the graphics settings, but so far haven't seen a single texture anywhere. Everything is shaded blue/orange/black depending on the time of day. I can run many games like Half-Life 2 and World of Warcraft just fine with this laptop. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't try and relog if I were you...
Most likely it's the same problem we all are having...

The SL System has gone down sorta and the Grid is failing one by one... You see no textures because... Well the servers they are on are probably not sending any... Another we love you from Linden Labs...

First , never compare a game like HL2,wow (these have everything you need installed)
SL streams several gig a day to you if you travel around :P

Servers are going belly up right now so dont expect to see much for abit, sooner or later they will come back,, also check ctrl-shift 1 ,, if you have any pending download it means youre still caching textures and stuff :)

I don't think it is necessarily the SL servers, as I've tried several times over the past two days. I have no pending downloads or uploads and yet there are still no textures. My desktop gets textures (but also corrupts the textures on my character).

hmm would have thought your desktop BFG GeForce 6800 OC 128MB would do better,
(did you try not @ it and see if corruption go away?)

radeon 9000 igp *shrug*, barly supported, it uses Software Support for dx8.1 OpenGLĀ® drivers,

But anyway, did you try the usual delete everything in cache, see if texture get any better?

I found a lot of other posts on this forum from other people with the same GeForce card and the same problem, but haven't seen any such problems like what I'm having. I have a clean install of SL, so I don't know if clearing the cache would help. How would I do that, though, just to try it out?

Ah yeah, might as well try, these things can be hard to figure out why things happen, corrupted cache maybe, anyway heres where SL put it

C:\Documents and Settings\**login-name**\Application Data\SecondLife\cache
this is a hidden folder so you need to enable show hidden, open any folder
- tools - folder options - show hidden files and folders

Delete the things in that and see if it do anything :)

This may be a graphics driver issue with the laptop, on my mobility chipset unless i used the manufacturers drivers i showed textures, but if i installed the likes of the omega drivers or catalysts from ati it just wouldnt show textures.

As far as nvidia goes, then make sure you also have the latest drivers from nvidia
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Currently 71.89 for windows xp/2000

Clearing the cache doesn't work. I'm using the latest omega drivers. I'll try reverting the drivers back to stock, thanks for the tip!

Would it be possible for you to take a screenshot of the texture corruption issues on your 6800? If it's the kind of corruption I think it is, it could be power or thermal.

What make and model of power supply are you running in your desktop? What is its Min/Max/Peak amperage rating on the +12V rail? How many +12V rails are there? (It should say most of this stuff on a little chart on a sticker on the side of the power supply.)

When running SL, what is your GPU temperature? (Right-click your desktop, select Properties > Settings > Advanced > GeForce 6800 > Temperature Settings.) When idling, what is your GPU's core temperature?

How is your video card's external power supply connector wired? Is anything else plugged into that same wire, or does it come directly from the power supply without any other devices on that same line?

Have you experienced any system crashes or lockups when running SL?
