I still cannot getin game, and I know it is something simple!!

Worked fine last night, signed off. Came back around noon today, downloaded the update, tried to get in game, and nothing. For some reason, it is not connecting me to the regions.
Went to forums for help. Tried the suggestions, nothing working. I have tried several regions. Messed with the preferences. Redownloaded 3 times. what else is there?
No, it is not my computer, although it may be something small like a preference checked or not checked. Everything is the same otherwise.
Can anyone help me? I tried the 1-800, the person did not really listen to what i was trying to tell him. So, no help there.
I have tried nearly all suggestions from previous posts.

How long do you wait? I know sometimes I'll get stuck in preparing inventory for about 10 min and then finally it will let me in if I'm patient. Otherwise, I have no clue what could be wrong.

Do you have a firewall? cause since SL is now new version, the firewall might not recognize it from prev setup and blocking it now.

Seconded on the firewall. I was helping someone with the same syndrome and a soft-firewall seemed to be the culprit.

I don't know what (if anything) changed as I use my router for a firewall and did not change it, but... as an old colleage once said regarding networking systems, "sometimes it amazes me that it works at all".

Still not able to get in the game. I am stuck with a sunset/sundown. The game does not recognize me, I am not there. Have no money. I had a huge packet loss, but now none.
I have call support. They say everyone is blaming the update.HAH. The person said it is the 3rd party isp I have called GLBX.net. ok whatever. I stated this happened last time we updated. Still the help was blaming GLBX. net, said I could do nothing about it.
I have so far, disabled my firewall, reinstalled 4 times now, called support 2 times, let the game sit here for nearly an hour, hoping everythng would rezzzzzzzzzz, I have switched from home to last loacation so many times now, I don't remember where home is (joke).
I have tried everything, and now I am really getting impatient.
Please, someone, can you help?

You never answered about the firewall. Same thing happened to me with this update. I called service and Colin helped me figure out that it was a firewall. Look into it.

Did you actually uninstall SL before reinstalling it? If not, you need to do that. You won't lose any of your inventory.

still working on it. It actually let me in the game long enough for my friend to send me a tp. Then that's all there was.
Yes, I have disabled the firewall Asha, but just to make sure, I am checking to make sure another firewall is not active.
Thanks Toy, I found the cache. Even though I emptied it, still not the problem.
I am on windows xp.
Anyone? Any more ideas?
