Hi. Ever since I failed last year, I've been looking for a way to bring the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade into SL, so I can hold my annual party here and still watch my favorite parade. Anyway, I think I may have a solution in getting a TV Tuner/Capture Card, which can encode into Quicktime formats, or getting a TV Tuner/Capture Card, then saving and converting the parade files with a conversion software, if I can't find a Tuner that encodes in Quicktime formats.

Anyway, I don't exactly know what product I need, other than what I've typed above, so I was hoping someone here could direct me.

PS - Please don't email me about legal issues. I'm already speaking with 3 Macy's and NBC representatives to get express written permission. .

Please help me find the right hardware and software and remember, my total budget is $80 US dollars, so the cheaper the better.

ZOMG!!!! An even better idea would be for Macy's to sponsor an SL version of the Macy's day parade! Next year, THAT'S what should be done! Imagine what kind of floats you could do in SL! It would have to TP around to get good crowds without crashing sims ... all participants would have to be vetted ... take a year to put it together right ... this could be Huge!!!

Who are you talking to at Macy's? Someone in marketing?

I don't want to give out names as to who I'm speaking with, but the two folks at Macy's are in Media Relations department.

However, your idea gave me an idea. Oh, this is so sweet! I'm gonna call the Lindens and ask them if we can use the Linden roads to host an SL Thanksgiving Day Parade next year, or maybe even this year if people can build a float in 2 weeks, and I can get Linden permissions, etc. Macy's won't even stream the parade on the internet, but maybe if we get this parade moving, even if it is small, it might encourage them.
