Hi guys, maybe one of the experts can help me?

I will try to provide as much data as I think will help (but if you need more, I appreciate all the help I can get and will try to answer any questions)

I am on a:
P4-2.4ghz, 1 mb ram
Windows 2000, (5.00.2195) service pack 4
Radeon 8500/8500LE video driver
DSL runs vary between 2 and 7 kbps (depending on which test you run / believe)
... Note, I am 99% sure there is no internet connection issue as SL runs fine on 2 other machines for me at this location within minutes of this machines problems).

however, this machine I am forced to use for a while connected (the first time ever) yesterday.

after about 30 mins - crashed
relogged.
crashed after about 15 mins
relogged
crashed after about 10 mins
relogged
crashed after about 2 mins
reloged
crashed after 30 seconds
relogged
... Note that if I did not move my av it seemed to stay connected a bit longer...
Cache has been cleared, again and again during these crashes.

connection speed set at max.
cache set to max

this machine has no firewall

Note: after a dozen or so repeated crashes, I uninstalled / reinstalled the client...

seems to work for about 30 - 45 mins - crashed.

thank in advance if anyone has any great suggestions for me to fix.

I have a similar problem. I wish I did not update the client.

I sounds kinda like your video card is overheating. Do you see any video artifacts before the crash?

I have the exact same problem.

Radeon Mobility 9700, Catalyst 6.11 drivers.

Overheating isn't the issue.

Anybody have a fix for this? It's unplayable!
