I was just playing earlier today but I am now running into this wierd problem. I turned my computer back on today and when I double click on the SL icon on my desktop I get a pop-up saying "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005)". I am not sure what this is, but I have tried re-installing and restarting my computer. I cannot get it to work. I have looked through the knowledge base and the known issues but there is nothing like this. I have send a ticket to tech support but though I might as well give the forums a try. ' Has anyone elsew run into this problem and if so, what did you do to fix it.

"The error 0xC0000005 is generated by an illegal "memory access violation". This can be caused by anything from faulty RAM, an incorrect/corrupt device driver, poorly written/updated software and more commonly under Windows XP Service pack 2, malware/adware installations.
Usually you get this error message when performing a specific task, and if that happens you need to check the corresponding 3rd party's website/support department to see if they are aware of the problem
..a while back Symantec Antivirus caused the 0xC0000005 error with an additional message about a file called SAVRT.SYS . A simple software update to the Symantec Antivirus cured the problem."Sounds like it is either a problem with your RAM, or perhaps you recently updated a driver? Or, most likely, SL itself just decided to go on a coffee break. Sorry I can't be of much help. This error seems to occur with many applications, not just SL. It could also be some nasty spy/malware, too. Hopefully you weren't looking at any dirty pictures on the interweb. Use spybot or any anti spyware program and do a scan. Hopefully it is something simple. Good luck!

I was having a lot of crashing/reboot errors on my new PC until I realized it was due to really old network card drivers that never got updated. (The windows error log also said memory and driver problems) I used Driver Detective to find out what hardware was running with old drivers, updated them, and that seemed to fix it. Hope that helps...

Well, I have run Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Spyware Doctor, along with AVG Virus Scan, and they picked up nothing. Along with the fact that I dont look at porn ^ ^, and, I havent been on the comp since I was playing SL earlier today, I think I can rule out any adaware or Spyware. I am going to try that driver updater now. Thanks for the help guys ^ ^

I had that same exact issue this morning. I reinstalled and still had the problem.. Finally after several reboots it worked again. My guess was the order in which things were starting up in windows was causing a conflict.

I thinkI have solved the problem. What seemed to work for me was opening up my computer and moving around my RAM as well as my Video Card........ lol who the hell am I kidding, everyone knows the fastest way for a computer to be destroyed is not air dusting it.... which I always fail to do ^ ^. SO in other words when I opened it up I cleaned it out. It worked fine after that. Eveyrone go out there and buy and air duster and clean out your comps lol.
