Apparently, under group tab (maybe others too) you can only search on the group's title, not for words in the description. I think we should be able to put keywords for searching in the description as well. Here's a test to see what I mean -- the group named "iCon-Define Yourself" has the word "individuality" in its charter description -- but a search using "individuality" gets no hits.

Sorry, that's the way it currently works. FIND doesn't work for those extra descriptive fields like Group Charters.

that means we can NOT include keywords that we think people might search on in order to find a group like ours? That's not how it should be. I hope it will be made better soon.

Su, while I agree it'd be useful, I don't know of a specific project to revamp this part of searching yet. Have you started a vote proposal and got others who support the same aims to vote too? Let me know if you do. :)

Yes, I'd like to make a vote proposal about this problem.

Torley, I went to the link you posted above and read the instructions for making a proposal. The instructions suggest we first "create a forum thread for discussing and promoting your idea". Would that be this thread right here?

Would it be better to create a thread in "Feature Suggestions"? How much time should I allow for discussion? Would like your opinion on best procedure. Thanks. Su

I would use the Feature Suggestion forum, and I would make the thread first, let it get batted around a few times, and give yourself a chance to do a really good job of writing the proposal.

There's a lot of voting propositions with a fairly good idea that suffer from being badly written and failing to take into acount problems that might have been worked out with some preliminary discussion.

Yup! Simple and clean is the best way. Post a new thread in Feature Suggestions, put the proposal # in the title when you have a better idea of what to expect, maybe even put it in your forum sig--some have done that. Time is indefinite, but there are some issues that've come up over and over again, it helps as a reminder. Get as many people as possible who are passionately supportive involved.

More questions on proposal procedure

1) About "put the proposal # in the title", -- does that mean I can start a thread, then later make the proposal, get a proposal #, and THEN go back to the same discussion thread and change its title? How?

2) What is "forum sig"?
