Ok that pretty much sums it up. However for ref, here is what Ive done.

1. Reinstall
2. teleport to new location
3. Alt + Right
4. Esc Esc Esc Esc Esc
5. Scroll with mouse

Details: When I Alt Move and go forward with my mouse the view goes forward a little bit then down to the ground. thats strange.

Although not graphically related, here is the DxDiag to be thorough. (Not after reboot)

SOME DXDIAG CUT TO FIT MAX TEXT LENGTH. I only cut bottom.

--------------
I have a programmer friend and he doesn't even know how to fix it.
It started when he was shoeing me the settings to turn off the idle setting. so that would entail the problem is somewhere in the "Client" pulldown?

ok here is the three things i always do with camera controls:

1. Turn them on of course! ;)

2. Go into Client tab and go all the way to the bottom and click Disable Camera Controls.

3. Go into Edit/Preferences/Camera and uncheck the bottom two buttons. i can't remember what they are called at the moment. not online, :).

this way, unless u have the occasional twitch or glitch, you can go pretty much any direction you want for as long as you want without the weird swivel back effect.

is this what you were asking or am i totally off? :P

You might try doing Client Debug , go to the CameraOffsetDefault, and click the reset to default button. Same for FocusOffsetDefault.

Or maybe deleting your settings.xml file.

Sadly thats not sticky, so you have to do it everytime, unless you go through the debug settings and make the default to enabled (not for the faint of heart).

If you try Alt zooming 'through' your avatar it will default to the 'safe/dead zone' which I think from memory is 10 mtrs, its an old camera constriants setting. Originally designed to prevent your view from straying, too far from your avatar, when you enter edit appreances mode.

All the infomation you included for DirectX isn't required, SL uses OpenGL standards for graphics and OS defaults for sound. It only uses DirectXInput for keyboard and mouse etc, which is mainly OS defaults anyway.
