I keep getting this message, when I try to log on, "Second Life Requires true Color 32 bit to run in a window". I have 32 color set. My graphics card is ATI RADEON 300X. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the graphics card and installed the latest drivers from ATI.com.

Thursday, I was in game and went to change the force sun to sunset. I froze and then logged out. When I tried to get back in, i received the above message. Friday, after i uninstalled and reinstalled the graphics card, and SL, I was able to get back in again.

Today, I get the same message, now even uninstalling reinstalling the game, and the drivers isnt working for me, I still get the error message "requires true color....". It is set to 32 bit.... Other games like WOW work fine, please help :)

Thank you.

Its not easy, try the Following :

Does the ATI card support Dual Screens (2 monitors connected) ?
this can lead to problems, disable the 2nd screen.

Do you have a remote control Application running, like VNC ?
its not good for gaming, disable / quit / uninstall it.

good luck, you will need it.

Sounds like you just need to update your drivers..

on the ATI site above where you download the drivers, is a cleaner..

Run the cleaner, download the driver, reboot..

once rebooted, then installed the new driver, and should be fine.

It worked, Michael, think it wanted the cleaner, and not just add/remove programs. Thank you!

Not to be a pest, but this morning, its back to "needs 32 bit..." Why would it work one day and not the next? Cache is clear, virus scans done, etc. Any ideas? TY!

Does anyone or any Lindens have any idea on what to do, we have sent a log file but received a blank reply via email. Thank you again.
