Well, it looks like LL has finally acknowledged that their "Minimum Requirements" hardware lists for Mac and PC were inadequate. Not sure how long this has been posted, but today was the first I saw of these new specs. http://secondlife.com/corporate/sysreqs.phpThe new "Recommended" specs definitely raise the bar for 'acceptable hardware'.

Well the minimum really hasn't changed that much but it is significantly clearer about what MX cards will work. Their recommendations on the other hand... they are smoking crack if they think a P4 1.6 takes an AMD 2000+ to equal it. I have an AMD 1800+ that outperforms my P4 2.6 by a lot. In fact I get the exact same framerate as my 2600+ AMD and that's with a 9800 AIW cranked up to high quality (the fact it didn't crash within 5 minutes is a good sign too). Of course its not cheap retail consumer stuff either. Then again I wouldn't recommend less than a 1600+ or a 2.2 P4 myself if you want a smooth SL experience.
I also wouldn't recommend an ATI 9250 to hit a hog in the ass with let alone put it in a computer.
