Can I enter SL from my home and work computers? Do I need to install the software on both computers? Thank you. Chi

Yeah every computer has to have the game installed on it in order for you to log in. However, you can log into the forums and other sections of the SL website without having to have the game installed.

Your character information and inventory are stored on the Second Life servers, not on your computer. So you don't need to copy anything from your first computer to a second one; just install a fresh copy of the SL software. You can use SL from as many computers as you like, though each avatar can only be logged in on one computer at a time.

On a work computer, it is also possible that Second Life won't work because of a firewall. If the ports used by the SL software are blocked, you won't be able to connect unless you can talk a system administrator into unblocking them.

What about PC Anywhere

has anyone tried to use SL with one of these type products?

if you can remotely access your home desktop from your work pc, you could maybe do it that way...

I would not even consider trying to use PC Anywhere for accesing SL. The bandwidth constraints would eat you alive. PC Anywhere is intended for use in cases where only a small part of the screen is changing at any one time. in SL< it's constantly changing, so the amount of data that is having to flow back and forth to show you the display wiyld be horrific.

FYI - I'm a sysadmin who uses PC Anywhere every week at work. Trust me, hon, you don't even want to try that.
