I registered me yesterday and downloaded the game! But I can´t play it. After a short while logged in my Computer is rebooting or the VPU Recover makes something.
I downloaded the newest driver for my graphics card and deactivated VPU Recover but it keeps crashing. I even set the graphics settings on the minimum!
I dont think that something is overheating because my Computer is watercooled and I never had problems with overheating - doesn`t matter which game or apllication.
Here are some information about my computer:
Second Life 1.10.3 (4) Jun 15 2006 11:05:00
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3000+ (2172 Mhz) Memory: 1536 MB PC3200 (PC400) OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 (Build 2600) Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc: Graphics Card: Radion X800 XT Platinum Edition x86/MMX/3DNow!/SSE Catalyst Version: 1.2.2314.20337 OpenGl Version: 2.0.5819 WinXP Release Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS (7.1) Motherboard: ASUS A7N8X Deluxe
I even send some crashreports yesterday and today!
Sorry for my bad english (i`m german ^^) and I hope you can help me!

Sorry for my bad english (i`m german ^^) and I hope you can help me! Couple of suggestions Patrick. (btw, your English is fine ) Check in Second Life directory and look fro the crash log...I forget the exact name of it. See why you are crashing. Another thing. I have the same Asus board as you but have the Athlon XP3200 (2.2Ghz) When I first recieved my board, it was detuned down to 1.5 or Ghz....I had to change my BIOS settings to get it up to it's rated speed. (FSB speed was low when I got it also. Also, I suggest downloading "Radlinker", its'a utilitythat will allow you to tweak your graphics card (if you have the desire)

Hey Markubis, Thank you for your answer! I checked up the settings of the mainboard. Everything is correct. It works with 2.17 ghz! At the moment i don`t want to tweak my graphics card. It works well at FEAR, WoW and all that other games, so that shouldn`t be the problem, but thanks for the suggestion! I can`t find a crash log (i searched already for), I`m sorry. The only thing I can find is the win_crash_logger.exe but no text or log file which sounds like a crash log! And the exe just sends the crash report but doesn`t show me anything! I`m downloading the SP2 too at the moment. But I had never problems with games which "need" SP2, I allways played them with Service Pack 1! I just want to install SP2 if I have no other possibilities left.... Thanks again, Patrik

SP2 is one of the requirements for SL...it should help....there are a few SP2 upgrades also which will load up one SP2 is instaleld correctly. Access to the crash log is explained in another one of these forum posts. Maybe do a search for it....good luck I still lock up from time to time and it only seems due to the map...so I try to use it sparingly, and I also turn on only features that I need to try and save resources.

SP2 is installed and the graphics settings are on the minimum but it doesn`t help. Keeps crashing every time. Sometimes even in the log in menu. Sometimes I can login for a minute but every time it crashs.
I try to find out how to access the crash log....
Can one employee of the Linden Labs pls check up my crash reports I sent? Maybe this would help...

secondlife log
06-17-2006 11:56
To get to the secondlife log: - click on My computer - click on the C drive - click on Documents and settings - click on the ID you are usuing (I use administrator) - click on Application Data
If you do not see that dir, go to tools and then the view tab and make sure you have it checked so you can see hidden dir's.
- click on Secondlife - click on logs - there you will find Secondlife.log
That is the file you need to send to support@secondlife.com when you want to see if they can help with a problem.
They seem to be very slow responding on weekends as I haven't gotten a reply since early this am when I sent my latest log in for them to check.
Best of luck! Katrina Keen

Hey Katrina, Thank you! now I found my crash log! I sent it to Linden Labs, still no answer. That´s the end of my log (the part where it crashs I think): From: someone 2006-06-17T19:14:09Z INFO: STAT: Window height: 1144 2006-06-17T19:14:48Z INFO: Getting asset data for: 6089e539-2b45-67b9-0c9f-8cfac82465a8 2006-06-17T19:14:48Z INFO: Starting transfer for 6089e539-2b45-67b9-0c9f-8cfac82465a8 2006-06-17T19:14:48Z WARNING: Too many constraints...ignoring 2006-06-17T19:14:48Z INFO: Receiving f6da2a14-1252-5182-15c0-80ae15970608, size 30346 bytes 2006-06-17T19:15:46Z INFO: LLAssetStorage: toreAssetData (legacy)e9ddac70-30ee-dfa1-fb90-0e09b5bacf91:bodypart 2006-06-17T19:15:46Z INFO: LLAssetStorage: toreAssetData e9ddac70-30ee-dfa1-fb90-0e09b5bacf91:bodypart 2006-06-17T19:15:48Z INFO: Saved wearable shap Anyone knows what that means? Thank you for your help! P.S: what I have done till now: - SP2 installed - New graphics card drivers installed - New sound blaster drivers installed - SL graphics options set to the minimum. Same boat!

I had started a thread of my own about all the crashing. No one seems to be replying... especially the Linden's I have even turned some of the video features down or off. I hated doing it but decided to give it a try just to see if it would make any difference. Unfortunately, all it did was make things less "pretty" in the game. I still crashed after less than 2 minutes. I am so fortunate that the game runs on my notebook but I'm so blasted frustrated that, on the better, newer computer, with updated EVERYTHING, the game crashes and crashes and .... on and on. Looks like I'm not the only one this is happenind to but there must not be enough of us complaining for a fix to be put out for us! I just don't know. I love Secondlife and need my fix! Katrina Keen the severely addicted SL addict.

The Lindens contacted me and I sent them again my Secondlife.log. Now I´m waiting for a reply, I really hope they can help me. It`s frustrating that I can play every "high end" game with high graphics settings but can`t play Secondlife on the minimum settings for more than about 2 minutes... Everything I tried, still crashing... I really hope that the Lindens can help me and, of course, you Katrina ... If I get an answer from the Lindens and if it will help me, I will post it in here @ katrina So we have to keep waiting .... Greetings, Patrik

Hey Katrina, Here`s the answer of the Lindens: From: someone Greetings, The only thing that I can see that could be an issue is that there are empty spots for driver dates etc on your motherboard. You should be able to update your motherboard/chipset/AGP drivers. If you purchased your computer from a retailer, such as HP, Dell, or eMachines, you can obtain drivers at the manufacturer's website. If your computer was home-assembled, check your motherboard manufacturer's website for the most recent drivers. If you don't know what motherboard you have, click this link for more information: http://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=TechMoboDriversAfter such try reinstalling Second Life and in the preferences page go to network/clear cache and restart the client. I´ll try it out. I hope it helps! Greetings, Patrik
