Because there was a new version today, you are probally running a firewall that does not recoginize SL anymore, so check your firewall software and tell it that SL is ok again.

That's possible, but most firewalls that are not PC resident do not block outbound traffic, and those that do block outbound traffic tend to tell you they are blocking the request.
I've seen that server domain issue a few times. Sometimes domain servers go down and take a while to come up completely, because it takes a while for the updates to propagate across the network. Most times within a few hours the problem will resolve iteself.
