Getting this error message whenever I try to login all of a sudden, it was working wednesday and then thursday it stopped working. Non of the computers on my home network work. With two different accounts.
NOTHING on my network has changed recently. I have followed the page that shows to change ports on the router .. I have added -port 13000 to my shortcut, nothing works ...
I have emailed support@secondlife.com and got a canned response saying they'd contact me within a day .. and of course .. no reponse since then ..
Anyone have any ideas?

Have you been suspended or banned from SL? From what I have heard, that is the message that is given...and with 2 accts not working, it could be your IP is banned. Best to leave a message in the Linden Hotline forums.

jeez, one would hope that if they banned me, they'd at least email me and tell me why ...

Since you didn't get notice, it's quite possible a mistake was made. For example, perhaps someone else's IP was blocked, and you share the IP.
Please contact support@lindenlab.com or call 800/860-6990 tomorrow between 8AM and 6PM and we will try to help you out.
I'll also make sure support sees this thread.

thanks for the comment .. I've contacted Support twice now .. ticket # 76027 ticket # 75144
But both of those are auto-generated responses. I'll try calling the tech support number tomorrow. Is that number EST or PST ?

SL and Routers
07-11-2005 01:27
I've gotten this message as well since last Thursday I believe. For some reason SL stopped liking my router. When I bypass the router it works, but of course that means taking the rest of the household offline. :/

Didn't check the IP, but apparently I'm not the only one who's had this problem come up lately. I also tried using other computers hooked to my router with the same problem. My GF can access my account with no problem from her computer.

If your ISP uses dynamically assigned IP's you can try the following : Your router should have in the settings a place where you can release your IP. After reboot your router, most routers get an other IP assigned and try to connect to SL again.

Since I joined Second life two weeks ago, I often get this same problem. There support team have told me that there is no ban on my account or any of the IP addresses that I acess it from.
I`ve found that the only way to connect is to restart my router (just getting it to change ip numbers doesn`t have any effect, nor does turning off the firewall). So it seems that second life just doesn`t like my router (sometimes) but I never have any problems with any other internet program.
So all I can suggest is that anyone who has this problem, try restarting your router (or bypassing your router).

The rush of these we've seen lately is due to a specific type of security block placed when we receive a registration whose date of birth makes the user under the age of 13.
Since the main Second Life is an adult community, we're required block the address used to register from using Second Life, to prevent the minor from simply providing an incorrect date of birth to continue.
Most of the cases I've gotten calls on are from cases where it IS a kid and they ARE sending us incorrect dates of birth (the last one tried thirteen times), so to some extent it's doing what it's supposed to be doing. The hard part is locating the block; if the resident hasn't logged in yet, we don't have login information to track the block from.

I have the problem problem and it started last week. The IP address is not banned. I can access SL fine when any of my computers are hooked directly to the cable modem, however none of the computers can access SL with the router in place. If the IP was banned it would not matter whether the router was used or not. SL sees the same IP address on their end. This started last week and no changes have been made to the router configuration. Something has changed on SL's end. E-mails to tect support have gone unaswered. I have the same problem with two different computers; one is a Mac and the other Windows XP Pro.

I just cannot get in to SL at all; and I'm new, so don't even know how to bow yet.... I had a link on my desktop, which did work, a few days ago. I get the 'you need to download new version' and then it comes up with an error. And, it seems as if my password has been changed, looking at the screen I can usually log in to. A friend told me to get rid of the SL file out of my comp, and download the update.... I just don't know which file to delete (as there are many) and did not want to do something that would mess up what I have..not much. I did send an email too; I was told to ask 'in game' volunteers for help, and assigned a number for my query. If I could get in.........I would not have to have a number. I just need help. I would have thought that there may be some where on the boards for those of us that are experiencing problems. Like.........if you are having difficulties, read this....or something. Very frustrated.

Don't delete files manually; you should never do that for programs. Instead, navigate to your Control Panel, open the Add/Remove Programs utility, and uninstall Second Life. Then download and install the game from http://secondlife.com/download

Been out for a week now with the "Cannot Connect to Server from This computer." message. If I plug straight into the modem I'm fine, but the router is stopped by SL since last Thursday. No e-mail response from Lindens. I've lost out on $100's I could have been making! Guess I'm just going to have to call the phone number and get a live person. Getting sick of this.
