No Streaming Music

I recently downloaded the 1.4.1.1 beta and cannot get it to produce streaming audio ...

I'm running on a new 15" PowerBook 1.5GHz, and on a white iMac 800, both with 10.3.5 current ADC build. I have wind sound but no streaming music. I only discovered SL a few days ago so I'm more than a newbie.

FYI: the iMac had streaming audio the first time I ran the game, then subsequent runs have failed to produce audio even after deleting the installation ( including data in ~/Library/Application Support/SecondLife. ). The powerbook has not produced any streaming audio yet.

I'm fairly sure this isn't a bandwidth problem, I've got a 2 Mbit connection. ( although I rarely see full bandwidth on it but that's another story ).

I'd really love to see this fixed as I'm a Mac C++ programmer and electronic musician / DJ ( see hexprojekta at www.forgetfulelephant.com ) and I'd love to get into scripting and host music streaming events in SL, if I can work out how to do it !

Yeah, I'm using the Mac software as well and having issues with streaming music. I have a 12" 1Ghz Powerbook, which I just upgraded to a total of 768 M of RAM. I'm using OS X 10.3.5, and also cannot seem to hear the music. I've had it working once or twice before, but definitely not most of the time. What I'm seeing is that the buttons for volume and the 'Play/Stop" toggle are there on screen, but when clicking play, it switches to "stop" but no sound, other than other in-game sounds can be heard...

That happens when someone has listed a stream for their land but the SL sound playing software can't locate the stream.

Actually, I had others verify that they could hear the stream when I couldn't... And it was doing that for *all* streams. However, the new version of the software appears to have addressed the issue, whatever it was. I can hear the music now without problems..

before update mine played all the time, now nothing??

The streaming audio issue seems to be fixed now in 1.51. However I went into SL on a PC over the weekend and i now realize i do not have any UI sounds on the Mac version. No typing noises or avatar sounds at all !

( Mind you that it is just one bug in what must be 50 or more with 1.5 !!! )

was that a downgrade or what ?

I'm using 1.51 and streaming audio is not working 90% of the time on two Macs I have SL installed on. No problems in the 1.4x days. LL needs to, um, fix this soon.

For me 1.4 seemed to always play streams, but since 1.5, they only play about 30% of the time.
The "Play/Stop" button & volume control appear, but no sound. Odd bug...

As far as other sounds are concerned...

So far so good with 1.5.3 release for me. I seem to be consistantly hearing music streams again. YAY!

...now about other sounds.

Yeah things seem to be better than before, except the packet loss at times, but music is playing.

Streams don't seem to be working anymore... AGAIN!

Music streams on the SL client work about 1 outta 10 times for me if I'm lucky. So now I've resorted to opening the About Land pane where I'm visiting in SL, copying the Music URL from the Options tab, and pasting it into iTunes to listen to it. Works great!

Too bad the SL client doesn't work consistently to avoid this workaround.

Cosmo same here ! And I report this bug every version that comes out! I suggest everyone with this problem reports it too. LL obviously are not taking this seriously.

Streaming music flat-out doesn't work for me. Of course, I figure that it's probably got something to do with the fact that I'm running SL on Linux.
