Could use more pc spec's, SL likes ram, and cpu alot, 3.5 fps sounds like youre on 512 ram, that vid card doesnt help its not a fast one.

Lower view distance
avoid ground
avoid avatars

Pretty much only way to get 40+ fps in SL

I should have no problems with FPS i can run WOW almost full out with no chop and FPS problems

im also on cable and able to connect to the game at 1000+ KBPS

I've heard several times of dramatic improvements when you go from 1Gb to 2Gb memory....

" I should have no problems with FPS i can run WOW almost full out with no chop and FPS problems "

Wow cant be compared to SL,
wow is;
- low res textures
- low polycount/details
- localized installation, all files you need are on your drive
- its optimized for speed as it has zero user content
- its directx , SL is opengl

SL;
- millions of unoptimzed textures, that can have 1024x1024 size
- avatars that would make a average pc cry rendering them
- ram hog , 1gig is abselute min, 2 is what i would set min
- bandwidth hog
- realtime rendering ,wich is pretty severe impact on fps,
SL really need a well above vidcard,ram ,cpu to get into the 30+ fps

If you want higher fps you would need better vid card and 1 gig ram more would help you alot, dont ask me about ati tho, i use nvidia's latly (7900/8800)
