Oookay... so, I figured out the dll issue, which was my own stupid fault... but now! ... Well, it's probably still my own stupid fault, but...
When I start up SecondLife, all I get is a black screen. I can see the outline of the fist name/last name/password box, but that's it. Filling in that info and typing 'enter' does nothing - I just get another black screen, with a big outline of a box in the middle.
My new computer is the EXACT same setup I just built for a friend, and SL worked just fine on his. I've tried installing the drivers that came with the motherboard, the drivers from the nvidia website, the omega drivers, and the drivers off a CD from an older nvidia video card - none of them have helped any. And yes, I uninstalled drivers before installing the new ones.
Here are the computer's specs:
Biostar Tforce6100-939 Motherboard AMD64 3200+ processor 1GB DDR400 RAM Onboard GeForce6100 256 MB video card
I have win2k installed, with all the service packs and updates
Again, this is the EXACT same setup as a computer I set up last week, where SecondLife worked perfectly. I bought this board even though it didn't have an AGP slot, as the performance in SL was so great on my friends' setup, and I absolutely REFUSE to buy ANOTHER video card just to run SL. I'll cancel my paid account before I do a thing like that.
Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Probably something totally different, but sometimes I get a black screen on startup and can fix it by closing SL, opening a command prompt (start->run, "cmd" , pressing Alt-Enter to make it full screen, exiting it, and running SL again.

*sigh* So, I contacted technical support, with an exact copy of the post I made here. First they asked me for a log file - I sent that to them, but read over it myself, and saw a bunch of GL rendering errors, but that's about it... then they sent me back an email saying that since I'd installed different drivers, they're probably conflicing and told me how to remove the old drivers before installing the new ones, and gave me a link to the nvidia download site.
... I'm pretty sure I made it pretty clear that I DID remove the old drivers before trying different ones, and that I'd already tried the newest drivers, right? Was I missing something? Rawr.
In any case, I did some messing around myself, and discovered that direct3d doesn't seem to be working right... at least not with the drivers I had installed. Has anyone had problems with the geforce 6100 video card? Anything?
In any case, I'm just formatting the HD and starting from the beginning again, with a systematic process of installing video drivers (I remember someone mentioning the newest nvidia drivers were b0rked a few months back? Did that ever get resolved?), then directx9, then testing direct3d, THEN downloading and attempting to run SL... instead of video drivers, then trying secondlife, then dx9, etc, etc..
