The Second Life grid has been restricted to Linden-only logins whilst we address a replication attack. Our technicians appear to have the situation well in hand and we hope to reopen logins shortly. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Dunno what is going on, but I am in-world currently but completely unable to move or do anything interesting, and don't even wanna *try* to teleport anywhere. Been seeing sim burps (TD going to 0.09 or lower) for well over an hour in three widely different areas that do not typically do so. Dunno enough to know whether that's significant or not, just throwing it out there.

The grid is usualy down because of 3 reasons:
  1. The Grid is Being Updated
  2. Someone is Attacking the grid
  3. A linden Tripped over a power cable ;) *jk*

paying for.............?
10-03-2006 21:11
Honestly this is getting old.

I am starting to understand why the "older" crowd complains so much. I pay $75 a month for land rights plus my membership, and I spend twice that much in game a month.....For what guys?

AOL runs better than this.....and thats just sad!

Honestly I have defended Phil like crazy but Phil buddy, fix the F*****G server already!?

I am putting the Linden kids thru college so cut me some slack.

okay, thats the rant....thanks for listening.

AOL does not provide you with a relatively freeform building and scripting environment. You can't compare.

Even other MMORPG don't give "users" the same kind of creative capabilities.

Linden Labs has clearly spent a lot of time trying to figure out a way to manage all this freedom, but it is intrinsically impossible.

You don't like be attacked? Fight back against the attackers, not the Lindens.

Well lets look at it from the standpoint of the people who pay all that money.

1. Why should I spend so much money for a service thats constantly down? I understand that there are grid attacks, but the lindens quite frankly act like jerks to their paying members when it happens. When my cable goes out, the employees are very appologetic and I quite often get a partial refund for the time off. I know i'll never get that partial refund, but why are they so rude to me?

2. Why cant they provide us up to date information as to the progress? Every few hours doesnt satisfy me.

3. If you closed SL to open non-payment info subscriptions, I would assume the number of attacks would go down significantly, because a person can only sign up so many times with their own payment information before lindens will ban them completely.

I guess I'm probably stupid and make no sense at all, just like i'm stupid for thinking that the lindens should be more appologetic or that they should have cleaned up all the crap that was left over from the last attack so I didnt have to do it myself, or so I dont have to suffer extra load time because some regions have several hundred prims worth of useless party hats.. Whatever, i'm done ranting... Linden Labs will do whatever they want regardless of what their paying customers want, so quite frankly, i'm done requesting anything from them.

i agree with lee too but I must admit to frustration, I pay 140+ in land fees alone, not to mention the shopping sprees. This does get quite old.

Agree with Lee.

I also agree, and wish there was a way to set up a Volunteer Defense Militia. It would have to be carefully watched over to be sure it didn't go to countergriefing or vigilantism, though.

I'm very grateful that in spite of the griefers, LL has not locked up the game.

In spite of the terrorists, we still have our freedom!!!

I don't want to be insensitive to anyone who lost money because of Monday's attack, but I saw someone's screenshot of the apocalyptic purple prose and sort of wish I had been there to see it.

I guess you're bored when you start chasing hurricanes. Or something.
