What should I set my preferences in advanced graphics for optimal results? My graphics card is a NVIDIA Geforce4. TIA

depends on which '4' you're referring to. I'm on a Geforce MX4000 and GeForce MX440
my 440 supports AGP whereas my 4000 does not, and oddly enough if I click inworld Help> About SecondLife i am told that SL is rendering on the 440 even though i have my default monitor set on the 4000 so I haven't noticed any considerable difference in performance between the two when i do take the time to for disable 440 and run SL on the 4000 with no AGP. One thing though , Local Lighting will definately hinder your performance as far a FPS with Gefoce 4 series imo.

It's the geforce MX420
How do you think I should set the preferences for that? I just want to get the best graphics I can. Someone iw advised me to set my particle count to 512 and then the draw distance at 96. No noticable difference. Things are getting better as they patch but I did wonder since I don't know much about this stuff and what any particular setting does exactly. Thanks bunches.

"Best graphics" != "Best FPS" Which means, there are no optimal settings, just personal preferences.
