What a dissapointing weekend.
I've been playing secondlife with little to know problems with the 9800pro, This weekend I upgraded to a x800xl aiw.

I've rolled through the most recent 3 catalyst drivers, with no improvements. This is however what I have found out (very frustrating)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With AA on full (or any amount at that matter)

1.) Random crashes (sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes 3 minutes) (Secondlife simply closes to desktop. This seems random, on a mouse movement / click)
2.) Alt-Click Camera views have an ancored camera. (Meaning you cannot click, and rotate around an object / prim) You can look at. Nothing more.
3.) Object Placement (rez from inventory) Will fail EVERY time (tried for 4 hours). Meanwhile, while this is happening, the selection beam comes right into the center of the screen, opposed to the target area on the floor)

All 3 of these issues go away when I turn AA off.

(I've played with all of these settings for a day, AA seems to be the underlining cause of the problems)

So. . To recap, I spend a whack of money, for a decrease in image quality.

I'm running on a fully patched XPsp2, Athlon 64 3000, 1gb ram.

Are any other ATI uses experiencing these problems? What chipset? Drivers?

I expect alot of (did you try this or that) Please send me your suggestions, but I am a IT Profesional and have been for years, so hopefully I went through all the obviouse things to look at.

I am running an X800XL too and was crashing constantly! I finally switched to the omega drivers and things 'SEEM' to have finally stablized. But yah it took me weeks of trying everything else. Wish I had know about the AA thing back then.

I went to the Omega drivers today, seemed to fix things up for me as well.
