Does anyone have a working rules set for A D-Link 4300 Router?
My wife and I are both running SL, two wholly seperate accounts on different computers, behind the above router, it seems to do ok compared to some of the problems others are having with lag/latency, but it's still really sluggish if we're both in the same place.
I am going to try using distinct ports on each machine, like 13025 and 13026 to see if that cleans it up at all, will set fowarding up to each machine, but would like to know if anyone else using this router has been able to build a gamefuel or gaming rules list that works.
This router is really awesome for UT2k4, HalfLife and BF2 which we both play as well, but the issues we are having with SL are really annoying. Perhaps if we get the router configured properly, it will help.
Thanks for any advice you can give. Vinny

D-Link DGL-4x00 router Gamefuel Rulesets

Good question. I'm currently using the DGL-4100 (the wired version), which is very similar. I made two separate Gamefuel rules for the following 'destination' LindenLab IP ranges: 69.25.104.0-69.25.105.255 and 72.5.12.0-72.5.15.255 For source IP make sure to assign specific LAN IP addresses for each home PC, and list both IPs in each of the two rulesets under "Source IP Range". I should probably narrow down the port ranges, but without more specific port info, I've used the following in the two rulesets: Source Port Range: 1000-4000 (UDP) Destination Port Range: 4000-25000 (UDP) As far as setting a priority for the packet, I set Gamefuel to automatically classify packets, and it seems to prefer setting PC-to-SL comms around 130, so I went back and set both rules to 130. And one final suggestion: Be sure to get the newest version of firmware at D-Link's site (version 1.7 as of 06 Nov 2006) Disclaimer: IANANE (I am not a network engineer)
