Sorry if this has already been asked.....
I need to get a new computer but all seem to come with only Windows Vista now. According to the SL website the game won't run on Vista. Does anyone know how long it could be before they are compatiable?
I soooo need a new comp but can't cope without SL!!

From my own experience, I cannot confirm what you say. Have been using SL on Vista for almost a year now (started with Vista Beta, meanwhile got the Home Premium version).
You probably will have to do one thing: update the graphics card driver. In order to do that you need to figure which graphic card model you have. Most likely it is one of either the ATI or the NVidia series.
Go to the NVidia (or ATI, or whichever else) website and download the latest Vista driver software for your graphics card. After installing it on your PC you restart - and there you go.
Good luck

I just bought a brand new Dell laptop with SEPARATE video card - FX8400(?? or thereabouts) with Windows XP loaded. The response and resolution is astounding and I can set my distance resolution to 250 or more with no problems.
A long term friend of mine has a very successful computer business. He strongly advises against getting Vista. New computers with XP are available.

I agree on principle, however there is no point in putting off the inevitable. I've just replaced my computer and my new one came with Vista and I haaaated it. My husband has an IT business and he doesn't like it for technical and operational reasons, however he has no choice but to learn its ins and outs for obvious reasons. I waited so long for him to install XP on my machine I came to quite like it as an OS! SL runs fine on it, I'm running a NVIDIA Geforce 8600GT.

From: Caira Rosmer Does anyone know how long it could be before they are compatiable? 2009 when microsoft buries vista with a non screwball issue of windows never fear tho as most have explained sl does run on vista, the issue was that the video card makers didnt really have much time to get their drivers right before ms vomited up vista. and therefore caused a big stink with alot of different programs that time has mostly passed (with maby an exception on some ati cards) and the majority of people do not have any issues on a side note, i got ahold of a copy of vista home premium the day it came out, right out of the box SL worked just fine
