I had voice working for about 15 minutes then I started getting a horrible Buzz. I have tried the headset in another computer but still have the same problem. Does anyone know if its likely to be a sl problem or the headset? The headset was brand new. Thanks

If you get a problem and make a post in a technical forum, please include your full system specs.. it helps you, and anyone wanting to help you.

I had to buy a USB headset because my mic and headphone jack were broken during a bad storm when I was on a ship. The USB headset works great for everything...except SL. I set the SL audio input and output to the USB headset, yet people just hear static when I try to talk. MSN, Yahoo, Skype, etc. all work just fine.

Are USB headsets not compatible with SL?

not sure your problem, but i havent had a problem using my Plantronics USB headset on OSX yet. Well i did have some weird output issue the other day where all SLvoice output was going to my laptop speakers instead of the default setting of the headset, but i restarted everything and it worked again.

If you are plugging in the USB directly to a port on the MB and not through a powered HUB, that may negate a potential source for the buzzing sound. Also make sure that the USB drivers are installed and working before you start the client. The client cannot refresh the drivers pool once started.

Also check your connection from one of these sources, to make sure you have a suitable connection (its not just about bandwidth).

I don't have a powered hub...it just plugs straight into the back of my laptop. As I said before, it works just fine for things like Skype, MSN, Yahoo, etc. I set the SL settings to the headphone set, yet every time I try to talk through it, people only here static. I can hear just fine through my headset, nobody can hear me. I made sure my mic mute was off and that the level was turned up in the Windows settings. I'm not sure why it would work fine with everything except SL...

...oh, wait, I think I just answered my own question.
