i've tried to get SL to run on my notebook a couple of times and it never worked. It's a pretty standard notebook with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 and an Intel Centrino. The game hangs as soon as it loads. I can see the login screen and in the middle (where some graphics are supposed to appear I believe) it just says "loading". I have to kill the process manually in task manager.

Any particular reason that this happens? Can I do something about it? Thanks for any tips.

How much memory do you have? If you have less than 512mg, that may well be the problem. And even 512mg is not going to play SL well.

my dell w/9600 radeon runs sl with no prob. i'm using the latest catalyst driver installed with the mod tool. it wont install on laptop without the tool, cause it wont recognise the hardware.

Hmm I'll try that then I guess. Hasn't SL been around a while though, I would assume it doesn't rely on the latest drivers.
