why is this happening? They are not in my view in world and they are in a nice grid pattern. It doesn't seem to matter if I save to disk or upload, but all my pictures have white dots rendering them completely useless. Any idea wha'ts going on? I have no problem in the regular snapshot mode.

There are several possibilities we'd want to narrow down here, Lola.

One of them is: are you running Second Life in full-screen or windowed mode? What happens when you shrink the window and then take a hi-res snapshot? And how much RAM do you have in your computer? Hi-res snapshots can be a very memory-intensive procedure, so I'm hoping at least 1 gig or more. :)

I've heard other suggestions to this, including--on the off-chance if you're running in dual-monitor mode, try running on a single monitor.

Moving to Technical Issues for further discussion.

Just wondering... it might be a HUD attachment that you can't normally see with low-res screenshots (perhaps it sits off-screen somehow, or in one of the corners?) ? If I take a hi-res shot with my Zhao HUD AO attachment on, it gets replicated around the screenshot in a grid pattern.

I have the same problem since one of the 1.10 releases. Actually I am not sure if it is still present with the current version though.

I have a Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX.

Although I do not mind too much, I just wanted to post a "me too". ;-)

A friend of mine with a GeForce 6600 card was seeing something simular to what you describe,it ended up being a hud attachment,he took it off and snapshots were fine.

Yup, its huds! Repeating over and over again in high rez. Both Canimal and I had the same problems!

Moral of the story.

MAKE HUDS IN SNAPSHOTS OPTIONAL (and no, I don't mean take them off)

It could also be your graphics card memory is dying. If you start seeing a weird grid pattern in other graphics-intensive games, it's probably that.
Possible solutions include underclocking your card so it will heat up less, getting a better cooler, or just cleaning the existing one. Lower details so less stress is put on the card. Or return it, if it's under warranty.
