Okay...
1. Post you computer's model and specs. 2. Post WHAT KIND OF VIDEO CARD YOU ARE USING.
If you DON'T have a video card, make sure your PC can support AGP and out to your local computer store/wal-mart and buy an nVidia with at least 128mb ram on it. If you're computer is too old, just go buy a newer pc.
I know this because my computer is bare-minimum spec for secondlife. I have a machine I peiced together from parts, something like: - 533mhz Celeron - around 300mb RAM - 64mb GeForce2 PCI - Running XP Pro. - Connected on 1.5mbps DSL. If anyone would like to poke fun at my hardware, they can a) donate a new computer, or b) kiss my geeky ass, because it may be old, but it runs better than most of the 2.5ghz Craptels boxes I diagnose on a daily basis.

From: someone oh ! also i am using winxp and i use a dial-up modem if that matters I'm going to answer this first, since it's probably the more important bit of information. Unfortunately, you can't use SL with a dial-up connection. It's too slow to handle the amounts of data SL transfers. You need a minimum of a 256kbps downstream connection, so that means either cable or DSL. How long did it take you to download the SL software? From: Penny Pussycat device mngr says i have intel82810 and also nvidia Geforce2 mx/mx 400 This suggests you have a computer with onboard or "integrated" video, but that a seperate video card was added later. It's probably the Intel 82810 chip that's interfering with running SL. Do you have more than one monitor attached to your computer? If not, it may be that the Intel graphics aren't disabled properly. To do so depends on what type of motherboard you have. You can find that out by following the steps on the second option on this page.
