The only worse issue I see going on is people unable to connect.

Yet I can't find any Linden anywhere commenting on this show-stopping packet loss.

I've put the question in Second Life Answers this morning (I have already asked about it a couple of times on the blog), hoping to find out if this is just something we are supposed to live with from now on.

It really slows down building.

Any thoughts, suggestions?

I have the same problem.

For the last week or so I have experienced a constant 3 to 10% packet loss.

Not sure if it'll help you, but I've heard from others that it had to do with the changing of Daylight Savings Time. Try disabling the syncronization to see if you can connect better. You know, sometimes it's"tomorrow" in the time zones further east of us. :P

while the SL Herald article may be a bit extreme, i suspect that under-provisioning at the server farm is being stressed by population growth. next week, to solve the problem, expect to see textures reduced to 128x128. :)
