I just had a tech out to the house to verify that there is no hardware issues. I see at least 50% packet loss. I'm loged on for about 5 minutes before a crash and send in the error report.

Hiya Lynn! While that info shows what happens, it didn't show how it happened. Now, that is terrible packet loss, 45% is far worse than Susie's 1%.

What I can see of your computer there exceeds our system requirements, and you've got a good graphics card too. General advice applies: make sure drivers are up-to-date and check the Technical Support FAQ.

I'm going to move your post to Technical Issues so you can discuss and so it can be replied to... it's the right place! ^_^

I also recommend that inworld, live and direct, go to HELP menu ---> LIVE HELP and ask for some. If you've not had a look at the Statistics Bar yet, now would be a good time.

And officially, try asking support!

All the best with this. :)

What kind of internet service, how fast is it said to be?

Do you have a network involved? If so what kind of networking hardware? Router, hub, switch - and what model?

What bandwidth limit is your Preferences Network tab showing in SL?

The more information you provide the better people can try to help you.

Yikes someone worse off than me! Second Life is so weird. Since the recent upgrade I have been having the packet loss problem, as mentioned, but my "red map of death" has ceased. How can this be? I can now spend hours in SL and never get disconnected. Did you LL people sneak in a secret anti-disconnect feature?

Q: have you tried uninstalling SL and making sure the cache has been cleared before reinstalling?

packet loss is down to your connection.

1. make sure your bandwidth setting ingame is max.

2. check your adsl line try using another adsl filter

3. unplug all other connections to the ine as this could effect.

4. check modem and or router (configured correctly )

if all the above is needed you could simply just be far from your local exchange and or from the SL servers.

check your upload and download speeds with your isp.

all above fails :( change isp.

( above assumes your on adsl not cable )
