Hi everybody,

I've a ThinkPad T40p with a graphics subsystem based on ATI Mobility Fire GL 9000. Installed driver (recommended by several colleagues) is an Omega 8.33.0.0 from 12/16/2006. All other drivers didn't work before (e.g. ATI/Lenovo).

When I'm trying to start SL I got an error message that SL seems to be crashed and some logs will be generated. Any help would be highly appreciated. I can send the logs directory if needed.

Regards
Lennart

What version of windows are you running? If you are running windows Vista, there is a known issue with ATI cards and SL.. there is a thread that has a version of SL that was compiled by a resident that will work for you called Vista SL (if you are running Vista) the thread name starts with new ATI drivers out, look for the link to VistaSL there, and it should run for you. Hope this helps.

ATI Mobility Fire GL isnt supported by Secondlife, its a cad card not anything youd want to use for SL/games.

ATI Mobility Fire GL is built in in app. 50% of Lenovo's Thinkpad laptops. No support for those would mean that no one who's using such laptop would be able join SL. A fix for that is already needed.

i like the ngohq drivers better, heres link to newest ati: http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=Files&go=cat&dwn_cat_id=18
also cad cards are fine for sl , sl is openGl and cad cards excel at this. My dell precision m65 mobile workstation has an nvidia quadro card in it and i run it with all the sl settings maxxed. i also use the ngohq driver.
also not sure what client you are using, but the newest firstlook works good for me.

Tried it, but unfortunately couldn't install the driver; it doesn't match to the hardware found.

You would think Lenovo would be able to work on sl. Since LLabs did a PR push for IBM ( but reallly Lenovo Think pads..... OMG Lennart I really feel sorry for you :( Contact support@secondlife.com

I hope this helps

Good Luck,
