If anyone could give me some advice to pass on, I'd appreciate it, regarding the following issue:

One of my friends in real joined SL today, but every time she logs on, she gets an hour glass appear and SL crashes on her after a few seconds. She can see herself, skin, hair, clothes and others avies around her, but she keeps freezing.

I asked her what video card and operating system she is using and she said she's on a Compaq Presario 2100 (windows xp) and her graphics card is a Radiom IGP 320M. I really don't know how to help her. To add to this, I asked her if she's on dialup and she uses cable.

I managed to talk her through changing her login location to my land at the sign in window before connecting, so she wasn't in the crowded orientation island lag, and that still did not help. Anyone have any suggestions or advice I can give her? I'm not really a technical person.

Thanks in advance for anything you have to offer.

I have the same graphics card in my laptop. It's really not meant for games. SL will do exactly what you have described. Hence, it won't work. If she somehow gets it to work, let me know how!

tell her to check into preferences before connect and

* change everything related to graphics to lowest possibiltiy
(levers to the left, uncheck all boxes)

* turn off media playing (quick time)

Get the latest Radeon driver for your operating-system, and the use this tool here to make the normal driver ATI-mobility compatible

http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool/

As you can see, the Radeon IGP 320M is listed as compatible too at the modtool website.
Godd luck ^_^
