ala Perfect Storm

This happens more often than not.

I run SL, works fine for a while, then all of a sudden, the ENTIRE computer goes to a halt, the music still plays for a while then that stops too, I actually have to take the power supply out so I can restart the computer. I don't know why this happens, but here are the specs for it.

Taken from DxDiag, just so you know (it's rather indepth, so you might not have to read ALL of it)

As a laptop its quite possible its overheating if not correctly positioned and ventilated, also the graphics drivers are from mid 2005, im not sure if they can be updated or if the chipset is powerful as we dont currently test against ot support the Quadro chipset.

Thank you very much for the quick reply, I'll try and contact nVidia, because they don't seem to have a driver specifically for go.. and Gateway is terrible with updating their specific drivers. I'll also try to contact Gateway and see if the card can't be replaced with something more up to date. I also plan on taking it to my schools service center, get the heat sink cleaned.

Thanks for all you help.

Isn't the Quadro on the not supported list? Oh wait, it's on the not tested list on the requirements page.

nVidia might not be able to help you there, as a lot if the time, especially for laptops, drivers are the responcibility of the Manufacturer, in this case, Gateway. I have a toshiba laptop, and an nVidia Geforce Go vid card, nVidia does not supply drivers for my card, I had to get it from the manufacturer
