This holiday season I am hosting a Thanksgiving Dinner and Christmas Party. I want to stream christmas music from one of several christmas stations online. I can't find the URL's to add to my tuner, and I am getting nervous.

Can someone help? How do I find the URL of a internet radio station.

Try www.shoutcast.com That's the easiest way... IMHO

or do a google search for "online radio stations directory"

or, if you have a RL station in mind, google their call sign and see if they already broadcast over the internet.

I can find radio sites, but I can't get the actual URL. Radio stations use click buttons, and hide the actual URL. You click the button and it starts a broadcast in your WinAmp or Windows Media Player while the actual address of the site is masked by the button. The Radio Tuners in SL require actual URL of the audio stream be typed into the notecard or script.

Again, thanks for replying, but shoutcast doesn't help me.

ahhhh. Sorry about that.
Clicking the little 'PLAY' button on the web pages, causes a file to download (with extension '.pls'). That file is then handed to your player of choice, such as Winamp. Trick is to find the info on the stream's URL after it opens in the player.

So, I use iTunes as my default player. When the stream opens in iTunes, I do a 'GET INFO' (in the FILE menu), it will show you the actual URL. There's a similar capability in VLC, etc.

I don't use Windows, but Perhaps someone knows how WINAMP and WMP do this...the URL is there...just how to find it.

Yes, you can display the stream URL in Winamp with the File|View File Info command. Alternatively, open a command prompt and type "netstat" to get a list of open connections, one of which will be the currently playing stream. Determining which connection is the stream is left as an exercise for the reader however...

Ha Ha, Talon!
I get too much exercise as it is!

@Joy, find a stream in the shoutcast directory that you like.
open it in Winamp
do a FILE and VIEW FILE INFO... command (thanks to Talon)
copy the URL of the stream that's playing.
Paste it into your LAND's Settings to play it in SL ;-)
