Ever since I downloaded windlight at the beginning of November, I can't log on from the reg client version of sl. It never even gets to the sl screen before crashing (even after uninstalling windlight). It only logs on after reinstalling; but if I log out I can't get back in. Since downloading the latest windlight update, I can't even log on from windlight... windlight goes to the sl screen but then I immediately get a message "Unsupported Hardware is missing from alerts.xml!", after which, sl crashes. Now with windlight being temporarily pulled, I can't redownload and reinstall windlight. Does anyone have a clue how I can log onto sl without having to reinstall it every time? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. (...and YES, I'm unfortunately using Vista, if that might have anything to do with it.) Thank you very much.

Vista gets such a bad rap here.  My counter question to you.............are you using Vista 64? SL won't run on a 64 bit operating system........probably an SL problem. I have Vista (32 bit.......though my CPU is 64 bit capable) and I've done nothing special to make SL run on this computer. It's the same graphics card I had on my XP machine (nVidia 8600GT with current drivers........that Vista found, by the way, on Windows Update). I did get more RAM to compensate for Vista's memory hungry trait..........like SL. Tell us a little more about your system. Your post is pretty vague. |

My post is a little vague cuz I'm not that tech savvy. Here's my system details - OS: Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit); Processor: Intel Core 2 CPU/ 6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.39 GHz; 2.00 GB RAM; Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS w/ current drivers. Like I said, it seems to run ok after I reinstall (although it gets choppy & laggy during peak usage hours which I think is due to my ISP as much as SL). I'm wondering if it's possibly a security issue with my pc... could the internet security suite that I use from verizon (my ISP) somehow be messing w/ the SL shortcuts?
