I just installed Sl for the first time. I allowed it to pass through my firewall.
When I double click Secondlife.exe NOTHING happpens except my CPU usage shoots to 100%. I haven't even seen the loading screen. When I go to my Task manager it shows Second Life running. Any ideas of what I need to do? My coputer is fairly new...I built it two years ago for gaming. I don't have any other applications running.
Any ideas?

Im still not getting anything. I have downloaded all the updates, new drivers, uninstalled a lot of crap programs I dont use anymore, rebooted, reinstalled SL, everything....and still I can't get anything to work!
All that happens when I double click the icon is secondlife shows up under the processes tab of Task Manager. Not under applications! This is so iritating! All my other games (including other online games) are workin fine!

Is it possible an anti-virus or firewall is the problem?

I have tried w/o any firewalls up, with firewalls up, and with Second Life allowed to pass through the Firewalls. Nothing...
Is there anything special about loading the game? Do I need to have a website up or anything like that? Or am I right in just double clicking secondlife.exe?

Questions: What graphics drivers are you using (version and where they came from)? What OS & service pack? (never know, could be linux).
My PC at home is 5 years old and it's got an upgraded ati x700 and runs sl great, so you should be able to run it fine.
Also, it's probably not the firewall.... Unless you have the things set to be ridiculously restricted. But if it supports upnp, it shouldn't have a problem
