I've been in the game most of the evening. Had one sim crash and relogged without problem. However, a few mins ago the game just froze totally and I relogged. Now I keep gettign stuck at region handshake. It doesn't go thru and I can't log in. The rest of the internet is working fine for me and nothing has changed on my computer.

Try cleaning out the SL cache then restarting SL
