images 'grey' but not the normal grey

Hiya, i noticed , in my short time of playing before i lagged out and crashed then logins went unavailable, that when i go to view someones profile (including my own) anywhere where there should be an image is greyed out.

Now, its not the usual flat grey with a whie "X" on it, its a texturized grey, almost grungy looking. (Edit to say that it does load if I have the window open for awhile)


Anyone else have this? I cant quite tell if its a new normal thing before the images load up (In place of just the flat grey with white x for no image at all) but since the images arent even loading im not sure.......

That has nothing to do with what i`m seeing. I am seeing a greyish texturized image. If I sit with the window open for a minute or two the image loads. Its not "missing image" problem, it seems to be a rezzing problem, not sure if the grey is intended or if its a new 'feature'

Might it be related to "image time issues" then?

Because a few revs back, when I joined, the "loading texture" was a subtle grey cloud, not this "tron-grid" grey and white... and it made unloaded textures a lot less annoying, particularly in parkland where the semi-transparent grey cloud didn't obscure your view when you were surrounded by plants the way the new loading texture does.

If they're bringing back the old loading texture, that would be WONDERFUL.

I had a screen shot of it to post with this thread but at the time the forums were taking LONG to load so i had to close the page then lost the screen shot on accident.

Will get another when i get back in world.


Never seen it before though. It always used to be that flat grey color with a white X when images were loading...

When I was able to log...I saw the smoke grey too...and thought the same thing, that *maybe* they were bringing it back.

Of course, now I can't log to double check, but it's good too know I wasn't seeing things...

Okay you`re right I guess, this "smokey grey" pre-texture thing goes a little see thru when I open something over it, such as an IM window. When I click back on it to bring it ontop of everything else i have open it goes back to a solid

Everything is taking forever to load for me though.

Yeh, this isn't "smokey grey" like the old loading texture, they just got rid of teh white outline. It's still opaque.

I wish they'd bring back the loading texture from 1.6 or so.

I loved that old smoke texture. Today i saw up my friend sha's Skirt cuz it hasnt rezzed yet and it was transparent. Anyway it was better then the hologrid crap. but what i dont like is the object properties window for the inventory is no longer tabbed, and the IM window keeps resizing when you close tabs.

Yes. While at it, the in-world grey texture also appears to be changed, there's no longer the white edges on it, it's all solid grey now o.O;
