Inventory jammed for 2+ weeks and counting...

My 'this particular' account has had no access to the 'My Inventory Items'
for 2+ weeks now. It also causes

1) Crash on any inventory operation
2) No access to the Map (mini-map works)
3) Crash on Quit (always)
4) Can not add friends without crashing.

I created another account and that works perfectly without causing any of
the above issues so it is not the Second Life install that is at fault. So no
amount of reinstalls, reboots, cache clearing, cache moving etc. has made
the issue go away.

Did you try deleting SL xml files.

Uninstall SL, then go to
C:\Documents and Settings\*username\Application Data\SecondLife
(hidden folder default)

Delete everything there, then reinstall, those xml files wont get removed on uninstall.

Caused issues with me like that instant crashing when doing certain things -.-;.

I am on a Mac. And yes I have attempted all of it. I have completely removed
the equivalent on Mac ~/Library/Application Support/SecondLife folder.
Even made sure there were no plist files hanging around related to SL etc.
Tried different viewers (OnRez) too. The inventory load just goes into 100%
CPU usage just after loading the default inventory and never returns. At that
point, no network activity related to SL happens.

My 'this particular' account
If you try with an alt, and preferably try logging on to your own account from a different puter as well and the alt works fine on your puter and your account is "broken" on the other puter as well then there's likely not much anyone but a Linden can do about it :(.

Only suggestion then would be to do the "support dance" and hope you get a result.

Basic users don't get support for 'technical issues' AFAICT. So my only hope
is that some miracle happens and a Linden reads it and decides it is
somehow worth it to do something about it.

Should I call this content theft by Linden Labs?

Have you filed a support ticket? Use the basic member ticket-type "Account Issues" and enter details of your problem. This is a horrid thing - could something be corrupted in the inventory?

The basic ticket has categories like 'can't login inworld/outworld' but no category I could place this one in. I could try to force fit this into something else but that would be dropping to a lower level and they'll technically be able to throw the ticket out with much prejudice in that case.

Welcome to Second Life.
Click a button, sit back with a cup of coffee, and wait for an error message.

Ahhh yes. Freedom. We can make a crappy system and as long as we are the only one with it. Who cares if it works. Is it not great?

Oh you been here awhile. Remember how things used to be? When the only thing we had to yell about was the L$ rate and that images are not rezin or people being grey?

Inventory is finally back
05-29-2008 08:01
After I last wrote here, I proceeded to force fit this issue into a 'can not login' ticket type. A week later it got closed with the useless 'clear your cache' response. This morning finally somebody closed the account for half an hour and did some real maintenance on it and I have the inventory back. A two months long ordeal is over.

Thanks Osprey Therian for doing another ticket on my behalf. Thanks all for the sympathy and suggestions. Slers rock but SL has a very very long way to go...

Ive been missing 20k items for 2 days now. got the run around about using the beta grid to recover it. but issue with that the imaeg for all of me and my stuff is only about 9hrs old and not from may21st. so yay, and yes forcing the ticket puts out request for help into a lower tier. s
