Hi,
I'm having a problem with Secondlife where no texture appears and everything seems to be black.

This appears at the login screen...

I've tested my DirectX with the diagnostic, and the DirectX version 7 test works properly, however after that the results look like this...

I will post my system specs and info here. A cookie if anybody can figure out the problem!

i have seen similar effects on other games.

most likely (i might be wrong):
- your int. GPU can't handle the graphics
- overclocking
- overheating

you can try to lower the settings of the screen resolution, get a dedicated PCI or AGP if your system can support and upgrade RAMs.

NVIDIA GeForce4 MX Integrated GPU

Dont run the newest vid card drivers on a mx4 card, nvidia 71.89 version is recommended with that card and SL.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_71.89.html

things to fix this;
- run SL in main screen if you have several

- disable avatar vertex (preference/graphic.details)
- disable opengl vertex buffers (preference/adv.graphics)

- increase the onboard memory video ram setting to higher
(in bios, 128 recommended), i wouldnt recommend onboard at all tho, no matter what they are, doesnt have their own ram and can lead to way to many issues, they "borrow" from system usually very low like 16-32-64mb.

Thats typically how SL looks for me when theres not enough vid ram, drivers outdated/wrong, or the vid card isnt supported (yours if but its seriously old)

Yah I realize my graphics card is seriously old, attempting to avoid buying a new one at all costs. Hey! I'm cheap!

Thanks for the advice, I'll try rolling back the driver, I'll repost the results afterward.

EDIT: Worked magnificently, Thanks a lot for the help!
