I am trying to join Second Life for the first time. I have been trying to log in all day. The application allows me to log in with name and password. I even get in for about 5 seconds and the system crashes. I am on Windows XP with SP2. 1.6 gig processor, 1 gig memory, Radeon 9000 graphics adapter. I configured my firewall to include access to SL and the ports. I changed my preferences to the lowest settings. Still no luck. I am very disappointed because I paid for membership and have not been able to use it yet. I almost want to call my credit card company and revoke the payment. Any help would be greatly appreciated or I will be forced to cancel my subscription since I've exhausted my efforts.

For some reason the catylist drivers that Radeon provides just don't get along with SL. |
