I have a cable connection (Road Runner) and no problems with running SL (other than the same everyone else has  ) Our problems is my daughters computer which is connected via a wireless network (Belkin wireless G Plus router). She has problems with losing her internet connection when I am running SL. Seems more likely to happen when I go to an area that is highly populated, people, textures, objects, scripts etc. is this a problem with the network, modem, her computer, all the above? Thanks! |

SL will push your internet connection to its limit (and beyond). I was using a Linksys router and when I used SL, other computers in the house would lose their connection. I switched to a Netgear router, and that problem went away, but I bought a buggy Netgear that rebooted itself every 30 minutes. So I switched to a more expensive Linksys and now all computers in the house works, as well as wireless.
Your experiences may vary.
But its connected to the massive amounts of bandwidth SL needs.

But its connected to the massive amounts of bandwidth SL needs. Thanks Aaron I suspected the problem was with the router and my computer sucking up all the bandwidth when I went to different regions. If I stayed on my little island we were fine, but the moment I went to a texture store or such she would be disconnected. I just wanted a second opinion from someone more technical than me before I go out and buy another router. That being said, does anyone have any suggestions for a good router that will work for us? |
