hi! ok, i'm still crashing every few minutes. this is what i have on
my computer and what i've done so far to try and correct the problem.

problem: randomly crashing out of SL. i get the crash logger on the way out.

what i've done so far:
1. updated my video card drivers
2. uninstall and reinstalled SL
3. installed a service pack for my motherboard (although,
honestly...not so sure about this because i don't really know what it
means to install new drivers for the motherboard...also, i don't know
really if i installed all the necessary "new drivers";)
4. turned down all the graphics heavy options in my SL prefs.
5. turned off ALL of my firewalls (windows and mcafee) and symantec anti-virus

what's on my computer:
Pentium 4 2.4ghz w/ hyperthreading (800 frontside bus)
1 Gig of RAM
80 Gig HD
nVidia Geforce 4 Ti4600 graphics card
(i'm drawing a blank at the moment on the model number of my
motherboad...but its an ECS motherboard)

why, oh why am i crashing??? this is really bugging me because i'm
totally new to SL...i'm VERY excited to get involved and start looking
around...but i can't. i just can't stay on long enough to even have a
conversation with the live help rep.

help?

Second Life is down at the moment and should, if all goes well (and this is certainly a fifty-fifty chance) go up at 12 pm PST.

What is the error message you are getting, if any?

Your specs seem good enough, though I don't really know about the difference between video cards (It's either "fine" or "not fine";). You've already updated your drivers too.

*chews on end of straw*

Some bigger tech geek can probably help you. :o

Some more things to check on: firewall, router connection, and make sure your computer isn't overheating. (I don't know how you'd go about making sure it wasn't overheating)

If you're running the Nvidia 77.72 drivers, completely uninstall your video drivers, then try downgrading to 71.89 or 71.84. Did that help?
