Hi,
If you're in a LAN can the network administrator etc monitor SL data transmission content? e.g. for College networks that have a pretty strict policy on anything non-academic. Obviously this is presuming the admins don't have remote viewing/monitoring software installed so you can rule that out. So basically is the transmission encrypted/secure?

Cheers.

If the admin any good they would already blocked alot of the ports you need, SL is easy to spot due to heavy downloads constantly, would prob end up blocking connections fast, software can do that cause SL tend to be ...err what the word "suspicious"since it requires alot of ports, know alot of trojan/virusprogs kicks on SL cause of it.

If you are worried about securing your traffic on a hostile network, you should run all your traffic to an external virtual private network.

A quick Google search turned these guys up (haven't tried it out though as I run my VPN on my own server): http://www.aliveproxy.com/web-ssl-vpn/

You see, there is always the argument that SL is valuable educationally, and indeed a coupla institutions are using it for just that so I suppose I could get away with it. It's just you do tend to explore alot so would the admin be able to tell, say, what island you were on without going to too much trouble?

Oh and I'll consider the VPN thanks.
