Alright, i'm fairly new to Second Life, but so far i'm not too impressed.
First off, everything takes a good while to load up. (I.E the world itself) and i'm on a decent internet connection.

Second, when things are loaded up and I try to move, I end up constantly moving. Unable to stop, unable to turn or do anything else. And above all, it keeps pushing me through objects such as walls, the ground, etc.

So far, i'm not very thrilled with Second Life primarily due to this fact. Perhaps if things were more stable, i'd be able to actually enjoy Second Life.

Any help to fix this problem would be greatly apreciated.

Thank you.

This is an effect of lag. Were you at a welcome area? The Ahern welcome area lag is tremendous. When lagging it's best to move away from large clusters of people.

Hmm. All I can say is that MY experience when I joined a short while ago was that SL was very quick; the lag was almost unnoticable except on rare occaisions. Recently I get tremendous lag almost all the time. Hopefully they can improve the situation, because I had a great time my first week or so here. If it continues like this, my patience too is going to wear very thin very quickly.

If lag weren't so great, I would be spending a heck of a lot more time interactively in-world rather than here on the forums. :-(

There's notecards in world that describe the solution, but here's the idea:

A lot of lag is due to the fact that Second Life uses your machine itself (not your internet connection necessarily) to the max.

Go to Edit -> Preferences, and turn down your draw distance to less than 100 meters, (64 is good) turn off local lighting, turn down avatar detail. I personally also use the Debug menu to turn off fog, plants, ground and some other stuff, but i have a terrible slow system.
