No graphics on login

On freshly booting my system I can start SecondLife with no problem and everything works.

I then exit SL. The second, third, fourth, etc time I start SL it has no graphics. SL IS running, if I blindly hit the enter key it WILL login and I'll hear the streaming music of whatever area I was in, but NO graphics. Instead it continues to show my normal destop.

If I then reboot my system I can then login to SL with no problem again. So in short, SL only works the first time its run after a fresh reboot. After that it will have no graphics until my machine is rebooted again.

All other games such as WoW, City of Heros, Half Life2, etc work fine and have no problems. SL started doing this at some point in early 1.6ish and still continues to do it.

Video is GeForce Nvidia 5900 with the latest nvidia drivers
Sound is Soundblaster Audigy 2 with latest drivers
Windows XP + SP2 with all updates including latest greatest DirectX

Anyone have any clues on what the problem is? Has anyone else seen this issue?

I get that if i have something else in background usually some sort of game.

SL starts and i have a blank screen, havnt had it happen with just SL tho, but i had some games stuck in background that didnt show up unless i opened Windows Task manager.

If you get it again, try a relog to same user, without restarting see if that does it.

I've had that before. On a related note, check Task Manager under da Processes to see if another instance of SL is still running. Ifso, quit that—on my system, I've noticed that from time to time, SL won't quit fully.

i had the same problem and it appears that SL conflicts with Xfire.

Hmm, well I don't have XFire. I also run task manager during these times and have verified that SL is not already running.
