Intel 945 chipset poser...

Hello,

My laptop has the Intel 945 chipset, which SL lists as a minimum requirement, but when trying to run SL, I get an error message saying that my something on my pc isn't supported. It's an Aspire 5920. Any ideas folks as to how I can cheaply remedy this?

Also, my wife has an Aspire 5103WLMI, which used to run SL quite happily on XP and Vista, after running a patch she found online for the X1300 graphics card. She has now lost the details for the patch.

Does anyone have any recollection of this patch, and where it might be downloaded from?

Is your 5920 different from what's described in all the spec listings available online? Are there perhaps different configurations available, and the ones I keep finding just happen to differ from yours in exactly the same way?

Here's why I ask. Every spec sheet I've been able to find for the Aspire 5920 says it's got the 965 chipset, not the 945, and that it comes standard with a GeForce 8600M GT. Are you certain you've got 945, and are you certain that that GeForce card is not present?

If the GeForce is truly not there, then the 965 and 945 IGP's are both supported by SL. But if you've got the wrong drivers installed, that could certainly cause a problem.



Also, everything I can find on the Aspire 5103WLMI says it's got an AMD chipset in it, not Intel. If that's the case, then nothing your wife might have done to hers would in any way help you with yours.
