Hi I just downloaded SL and for some reason the game will not start at all on my computer. I can see the computer quickly running the .exe file then just shutting it down again. Nothing ever starts.
Has this been experienced before? No clue what to do ://
Thanks in advance

Kinda need your PC/Mac spec here, winxp/win2k ? SL wont run on a win98, nor will it run on a intel graphic card (rarly), or other random ones.

Support tells something about special characters in C:\Documents and Setings\username\Application Data, so every user with non US WinXP can have similar problem. (me too)

< Norwegian /eu winxp, debug tend to spam "error unicode not found" blabla, but no biggie. Saying help and not providing any clue what your pc is buildt up from is kinda just guess work -.- Things i can guess up right now that can be issues win98/me use www.omegadrivers.net for sl if you use ATI, this is even more true for a laptop wireless issues firewall ports not opened not using a ati/nvidia card

Well, as I say it's special character bug. SecondLife client (last update) cannot handle special characters. So, when the client starts, he is unable to locate the C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data or C:\Documents and Settings\Harkonnen\Data Aplikací in my Wins and crash without any message or log (log should be in that directory ) Way to fix it: It's slightly hacker way, but it works I changed AppData key in Windows registry from "Data Aplikací" to "Application Data". Full path is: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders I wish the next update will fix this bug, other users may not be so kind to change their's registry
