Hello, im a longtime resident of SL with a problem x_X

I've just redownloaded and re-installed Second Life freshly many times but everytime i attempt to login the program locks-up and stops responding when it reaches "Verifying Protocol Version" I've tried clearing my cache but that hasn't made any difference. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on thats being a problem at that specific step? I've never had this problem before and i've been running SL for over a year.

(BACKGROUND STORY)-I've had SL running on my computer in fine condition but recently my computer was forced to undergo re-installing Windows XP onto it, at which time all my current data was still intact but everything became uninstalled, underwent re-installing all my drivers and reupdating my computer to how it was and it is mostly back to the original condition it was in. I use a Radeon 9700/9600 graphics card and have the latest quicktime installed as well. In addition all other programs i had on the computer that also had to be reinstalled all work without any trouble or differences in performance.

I've noticed several threads like this. What the hell? Is Linden ignoring our cries for help? I e-mailed support LAST WEEK and I still haven't gotten any feedback!

Have you checked your firewall settings?
