Slow SL Performance

Hi,

i got some weird performance problems with SL....
i dont know how many fps are normal on this game, but ive got only 6-11 fps on my system:

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1024MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Gpu: Ati RADEON X800 XT Platinum Edition (Latest Drivers)
Mobo: Intel Springdale-G i865G (Latest Intel Driver)
Sound: Creative Audigy2 ZS

Connection: 512/512 SDSL

The Strange thing is, I can´t switch on the "AGP Graphics Accleration" in the Adv. Graphics Menu; but if it set on the fps works much better as on off ?

i dont know why, but other mmorpgs etc. works without a problem.

Realistically you'll never get more than 15-20 fps or so in SL, unless you turn all the settings down and stare at a blank sim.

The reason is that because SL downloads everything on the fly, there's no way for it to optimize anything for your video card, so your video card is pumping raw pixels and polygons all the time.

The X800 is a PCIe board unless ATI or someone suddenly started making AGP versions lately. AGP isn't going to be available since.. well the X800 isn't an AGP card. (AGP acceleration doesn't seem to work for any ATI cards as far as I know) With my Nvidia 6600gt, I can turn it off and on and it doesn't make a hill of beans worth of difference for me so I wouldn't get too worried about it.

I hate to say it but the only people who are going to see 30fps in a built up sim with 600+ scripted obects and 15 avatars are going to be organizations with black helicopters and don't show up in government budget reports...
